Gudmund's blog:

The administration officer's easyminded blog with photos from the Andøya campaign. Start at bottom right to get a time line.
  • Final campaign words

(17.03.08) Monday night and it is over, so very over. I am well back home in Oslo, and I could easily list a couple of things I'd rather do than write this. But somehow newsletter editor ethics pop up. What has been started, must be finished.
  • Sunday 16th - Final Countdown

(16.03.08) Last campaign day. Spooky. Today was supposedly going to be the great day of flux measurements. Strange then that the early morning meeting seemed to be completely lacking of any flux of energy between the participants.
  • Saturday Softness at THORPEX

(15.03.08) Second last day of this Bavaro-Norse campaign with lots of other international spots. The mood is a little like wanna speed up the clock, although the bossy Icelandic gentleman keeps on claiming that he wants to be here forever.
  • Friday fraternizing with whales at Thorpex

(14.03.08) This has been a day of gratefulness at the Thorpex camp. First of all we naturally are all happy that The white beauty is healthy again and passed her brake exams with honors. Not that we had ever doubted.
  • Thursday thunderstorms at Thorpex

(13.03.08) Good news this evening. Spare parts for The white beauty arrived with today's last Widerøe flight and was installed within just a few minutes.
  • Wednesday Ups and Downs on Thorpex

(12.03.08) Sorrow and pleasure they wander together, says an old Norwegian hymn. Today was a true proof of this.
  • Tuesday testamonials at Thorpex

(11.03.08) Tuesday is coming to an end. It has been a happy day for us all. The white beauty has returned to her true home, and it seems that her visit to Iceland has not done her any harm.
  • Monday meaninglessness at Thorpex

(10.03.08) As this in some ways is the second newsletter of the day, I will try to keep it short.
  • Sunday Sleepiness at Thorpex

(10.03.08 in stead of 09.03.08) As Sunday in Norway is a resting day, Sunday news now comes on Monday. Or: Yours truly was too tired (due to night work) to write last night.
  • Saturday Saturnalia at Thorpex

(08.03.08) Hate webmail. Lost all of tonight's news due to program failure. Bad karma. But of course I start all over again, as I will certainly not disappoint my faithful readers.
  • Freezing Friday on Thorpex

(07.03.08) Today's letter is a little late. Some of our team are still on the local pub, and I thought I'd get that latest gossip hot off the desk, but it seems that will have to wait until tomorrow. Might be supplemented with some nice papparazzi shots, though, so do not miss that issue.
  • Returning to the Thorpex crime scene

    (06.03.08) OK everybody, I'm back.
  • Sunday Sensitive Simplicity at Thorpex

(02.03.08) My brakes my brakes my brakes are ok, sang The white beauty as she danced her test flight over the gentle skies. Afterwards Fode the Phrotographer got the special service of a designated trip over the island. He even managed to film a fake sond-dropping. The enlightened viewer of the upcoming movie might notice that the red security string is still on. (And might also find an obvious explanation to why there are no drop sond data to be seen on our screens so far.)
  • Saturday Slow at Thorpex

(01.03.08) If I had not been such a dead serious guy, I would surely have given you a stop the press service earlier today, as we realized that The white beauty was riding the northern skies with no brakes at all. Would she ever come down alive? OK, the truth is more like there is a small problem with the brakes, I think, so tomorrow we will have to have a no-fly-day (as the Chinese said on Saturday) due to maintenance.
  • Friday Friendly Frozenness at Thorpex

(29.02.08) As the interested and sober reader might remember today was supposed to be a day off.
  • Thursday thumbling at Thorpex

(28.02.08) After a week with almost no competition at all, suddenly it seems to be raining bad imitations of this news extravaganza. Loaded with sportsmanship as we are, we still welcome the information and the illustrative pictures from the gang with the small so-called airplane.
  • Wednesday Worries at Thorpex

(27.02.08) At last, virginity lost. Today the White Beauty of the Northern Skies had her first thorpexian flight. Wandering over the Finnmark fjords, crossing to Spitsbergen and quietly returning to base.
  • Some Tuesday Thorpex Tulips

(26.02.08) Five minutes left of Tuesday, and perhaps time to sum up.
  • Monday Thorpex blues

(25.02.08) No, no reason at all to be blue. All is nice and tidy at Andøya.
  • Andøya Sunday

(24.02.08) Ok, Sunday is our day off, so a few of us took the liberty of driving some miles to the nearby beauty of Bleik and Stave. A hell of a wind, but I guess we should take a professional pride in that.
  • Andøya Saturday night fever

(23.02.08) So it is Saturday night. It's only 9 o'clock, but people are tired. The things the polar air does to people. Or perhaps it is the long hours.
  • Friday evening at Andøya

(22.02.2008) Ok then, we have had our heavy portions of mølja and are happy with our lives up here. Before that we have finished some preparations and had a little sightseeing.
  • First day at Andøya

(21.02.2008) Greetings, today the Thorpex advance team bravely commenced its work at Andøya.
